Bereavement: Funeral Reception & Support
Family Promise at St. Joseph's (Homeless Family Hosting)
Leader: Glenda Espinoza
Purpose: Family Promise of Greater Modesto is an interfaith ministry of 11 congregations in the Modesto area that provides temporary shelter and support to homeless families, helps them find permanent affordable housing, and provides other family support services to low income families with children. Family Promise is committed to helping families in our community achieve sustainable independence. |
English as a Second Language Classes (ESL)
Purpose: To provide outreach by teaching non English speakers how to communicate in English. All non-English speakers can attend. The classes are completely free and meet on Tuesdays, at 6:00pm in the Saint John Paul II Center, intermediate English class in Room 4 and beginner English class in Room 2.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Home-bound
Leader: Mary Judd
Purpose: To take the Holy Eucharist to members of our community and Parish who are unable to come to Mass. There is a time commitment for participants of this ministry. Participants must be practicing Catholics, in full communion with the Church. Training will be provided at a time to be arranged. |
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Hospital
Leader: Sue Clarot
Purpose: To visit all Catholic patients, offering prayer, comfort and the gift of the Holy Eucharist. There is a consistent time commitment with this ministry. The Holy Communion Service includes a Penitential Rite, a short Scripture reading, the Our Father, the Hail Mary, Holy Communion, and conclusion. |
Military Support Ministry
Request to have name added to Parish military member Plaque.
(Note: Person must be a member of the parish or a family member of a St. Joseph's parishioner.) |
STJMOD TLC Ministry
Purpose: Coordinate the Good Friday Modesto Walk for Life, the bus trip to the West Coast Walk for Life in January, and to educate Catholics regarding Church doctrine on abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, contraception and natural family planning.

St. Joseph’s Bread (Homeless Shelter Meals)
STJMOD Pantry and Help Line (Formerly St. Vincent de Paul)
Leader: John Souza
Purpose: STJMOD Pantry & Help Line invites parishioners to live their Catholic Stewardship by offering person to person service to the needy and suffering. Services include twice a week food bag distribution from the back of the parish office, and weekly assistance with emergency utility assistance and other needs. Meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 8:30 AM in room 5 of the St. John Paul II Center. Food distribution is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Voicemail messages are reviewed several times each week. |

Purpose: We assist persons seeking annulments. |
Catholic Legislative Network
Purpose: Keep parishioners informed about legislation at the state and local levels concerning faith issues and their effect on the catholic community. For more information visit www.cacatholic.org.
