Each week, those who have nowhere else to turn come to Interfaith Ministries, United Samaritans Foundation, St. Joseph’s St. Vincent de Paul
Society and other agencies for food assistance. Each year, St. Joseph’s St. Vincent de Paul Society provides over 8,000 bags of groceries to the elderly on
fixed incomes, the newly unemployed and those who simply do not have enough to get by until the next month. These bags provide nearly 30,000 meals for people who are embarrassed by their need, often seeking help for the first time. The United Samaritans Foundation currently operates four mobile food
service trucks from facilities in Turlock, Hughson, and Modesto, delivering nutritious lunches to nine Stanislaus communities five days per week. In
2012 USF served 372,499 lunches through their lunch program. Through USF's Emergency Food Box Program they distributed 3,285 emergency food
boxes meeting the needs of 6,789 individuals who face food insecurity.

Interfaith Ministries of Greater Modesto provided groceries to over 3,000 people each month in 2012, with children making up 80% of the people they serve. All three organizations agree that hunger is not a holiday issue; it is year-around. “We CAN do it!” is
the rallying cry for these organizations, who invite regional donations of canned foods. Those who donate will be participants in a Guinness World Record Attempt.
