Novena Prayer to theSacred Heart of Jesus
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer you my poor heart. Make me humble, patient, pure and fully obedient to your will. Grant, O good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Behold, in your name, I ask the Father for the grace of….( name your request). O Sacred Heart of Jesus, protect me when I am in danger, comfort me when I am in distress, give me health of body, help in my daily needs and Your blessing on all I do and the grace of a holy death. Amen. V. Jesus, gentle and humble of Heart. R. Make our hearts like unto thine. Let us pray…. Almighty and eternal God, look upon the Heart of Your well beloved Son, and upon the praise and satisfaction He offers You on behalf of sinners; and being pleased. Grant pardon to those who seek Your mercy in the name of the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen. |
Act of Consecration to theSacred Heart of Jesus
I, (say your name), give and consecrate myself to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ. I give my person, my life, my actions, pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being except to honor, love and glorify the Sacred Heart. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, this is my unchanging purpose, namely, to be all Yours and to do all things for the love of You, at the same time renouncing with all my heart whatever is displeasing to You. I therefore take You, O Sacred Heart, to be the only object of my love, the guardian of my life, my assurance of salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for all the faults of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of death. Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before God the Father, and turn away from me the strokes of His righteous anger. O Heart of Love, I put all my confidence in You, for I fear everything from my own wickedness and fragility; but I hope for all things from Your goodness and bounty. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, consume in me all that displeases You or is contrary to Your Holy Will. Imprint Your pure love upon my heart so deeply that I shall nevermore be able to forget You or to be separated from You. May I obtain from all Your loving kindness, the grace of having my name written in Your Heart, for in You I desire to place all my happiness and all my honor, living and dying in union with You. Amen. |
The Twelve Promises of
the Sacred Heart of Jesus
“I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.”
“I will establish peace in their families.”
“I will comfort them in their troubles.”
“I will be their safe refuge against all the snares of their enemies in life and above all in death.”
“I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.”
“Tepid souls shall become fervent.”
“Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection.”
“I will bless the homes in which the image of My Sacred Heart shall be exposed and honored.”
“I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.”
“Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart and it shall never be effaced.”
“The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure nor without receiving their Sacraments. My Heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.”

Together, let us pray in reparation to the
Sacred Heart of Jesus
*An INDULGENCE of seven years, when it is recited conjointly with the Litany of the Sacred Heart and before the exposed Blessed Sacrament.
O sweet Jesus,
Whose overflowing charity for men
is requited by so much forgetfulness,
negligence and contempt,
behold us prostrate before Thy altar
eager to repair by a special act of homage
the cruel indifference and injuries,
to which Thy loving Heart is everywhere subject.
Mindful alas!
that we ourselves have had a share in such great
indignities,
which we now deplore from the depths of our hearts,
we humbly ask Thy pardon
and declare our readiness
to atone by voluntary expiation
not only for our own personal offenses,
but also for the sins of those,
who, straying far from the path of salvation,
refuse in their obstinate infidelity to follow Thee,
their Shepherd and Leader, or,
renouncing the vows of their baptism,
have cast off the sweet yoke of Thy law.
We are now resolved to expiate such
and every deploreable outrage committed against Thee;
we are determined to make amends
for the manifold offenses against Christian modesty
in unbecoming dress and behaviour,
- for all the foul seductions laid
to ensnare the feet of the innocent,
- for the frequent violation of Sundays and holidays,
and the shocking blasphemies
uttered against Thee and Thy Saints.
We wish also to make amends
for the insults to which Thy Vicar earth
and Thy priests are subjected,
- for the profanation,
by conscious neglect
or terrible acts of sacrilege,
of the very Sacrament of Thy divine love;
and lastly for the public crimes of nations
who resist the rights
and the teaching authority of the Church
which Thou hast founded.
Would, O Divine Jesus,
we were able to wash away
such abominations with our blood!
We now offer,
in reparation for these violations
of Thy divine honour,
the satisfaction Thou didst once make
to Thine eternal Father on the cross
and which Thou does continue
to renew daily on our altars;
we offer it in union
with the acts of atonement
of Thy Virgin Mother
and all the Saints
and of the pious faithful on earth;
and we sincerely promise to make recompense,
as far as we can with the help of Thy grace,
for all neglect of Thy great love
and for the sins we and others
have committed in the past.
Henceforth we will live
a life of unwavering faith,
of purity of conduct,
of perfect observance
of the precepts of the gospel
and especially that of charity.
We promise to the best of our power
to prevent others from offending Thee
and to bring as many as possible to follow Thee.
O loving Jesus,
through the intercession of
the Blessed Virgin Mary
our model in reparation,
deign to receive the voluntary offering
we make of this act of expiation;
and by the crowning gift of perseverance
keep us faithful unto death
in our duty and the allegiance we owe to Thee,
so that we may all one day
come to that happy home,
where Thou with the Father
and the Holy Ghost
livest and reignest God,
world without end.
Amen.
